In 2020, I published 3 books. Then, in 2021, I published 6 books, all of my Forgotten Fodder series and 4/5 of my Void Incursion series. In 2022 I published nothing. Then, in 2023, I published the last Void Incursion novel.
This year I am publishing all 3 novels of my new sci-fi trilogy, Savagespace.
As murderous anti-life forces emerge from savagespace threatening the galaxy…
The motley crew of the starship Moon Raven – refugee humans, dwarfs, a kitsune, and a half-elf – might be the only hope against an unyielding foe.
For millennia, savagespace and its horrors were relegated to legend and myth.
Unrealspace opened the way for faster-than-light travel across the galaxy. Unlocking the secret of folding space/time promises instantaneous travel across vast distances. But this comes with a terrible price.
As the people of the universe roll the dice, will they get a critical hit or a critical fail?
Savagespace is a Science-Fiction Fantasy series blending space opera and D&D-style adventures for fans of Star Wars, Dragonlance, and Independence Day.
The first novel – Alliances and Consequences – is available today!
My new novel – Alliances and Consequences (Savagespace Book One)
The blurb:
The universe has rolled initiative.
Commander Darius Noble has escaped the overthrow of the Alliance. He carries crucial intel about the drow and Federation’s plans for folding space/time to make war anywhere instantaneously across the galaxy. Lacking resources and pursued by bounty hunters, Darius and his companions find themselves adrift in a hostile galaxy.
Their paths cross with diverse nonhumans, leading to the formation of an unlikely crew aboard a salvaged starship. As they navigate their personal struggles and limited options, Darius and his crew realize a horrifying truth: The Alliance’s fall is just the beginning. Invaders drawn unintentionally from the mysterious savagespace, who destroy all without mercy, threaten sentient life across the galaxy.
This motley crew of misfits must risk everything to expose the danger and preserve life. Can Darius and his crew outmaneuver their enemies and become the unexpected saviors of the galaxy or will war tear everything asunder?
I am very excited about this new trilogy. It leans heavily into sci-fantasy. A large part of that is because, rather than create new aliens based on existing tropes, I used those existing tropes.
This is part of what inspired this new series. It occurred to me that while people have created space-elves (Vulcans) and space-orcs (Klingons and Wookies), nobody has used elves, orcs, dwarves, and the like as their aliens. When I presented a first draft of my blurb, sharing the races I was using, someone suggested I give the races more “spacey” names.
That, however, wasn’t the point. I even explain in the context of the story why these are the races I chose to use.
Like Void Incursion, I again played with the invasive interloper trope, and people who unwittingly find themselves in the middle of momentous things.

Savagespace is full of monsters
I don’t want to share any spoilers, but suffice it to say – there are monsters in savagespace. They provide the impetus for a great deal of the forward motion in this story.
Savagespace is the second series that I have written as a planner rather than a pantser. The outline was originally for 6 novels. However, it was clear early on that the length of these individually felt too short (since half of them were under 50,000 words). Combining them made perfect sense (little time passes from one to the next), so I’m now sharing a trilogy.
What exactly is savagespace? To quote one of my characters,
“Savagespace is a dimension of darkness that spawns a form of anti-life. In Savagespace, life is what anti-life feeds on.”
Book 2 – Revelations and Reconciliations – will be published on October 15th. Book 3 – Challengers and Survivors – will likely be published on November 19th.
Writing to get to the next book one
As of this writing, I’m working my ass off finishing the edits for the audiobook of Revelations and Reconciliations. At the same time, I’m also going over my editor’s work and recording the audiobook of Challengers and Survivors. Note to self – three books in a year, within 6 months from edit to publish, might be a tad ambitious.
I’ve got a finished standalone that is ready to edit next. I’m also striving to work on more books in the Forgotten Fodder series (and a short story in that series will be in a new anthology coming out in October.) Additionally, I have a couple of other ideas at various stages of development.
I’m working on the next book one. Today, however, I celebrate the release of this new book one!
Thanks for reading. As I share my creative journey with you, I conclude with this: How are you inspired to be your own creator – whatever form that takes?

Your writing process is probably different from mine, and both are valid. There is any number of books out that all about the writing process. Different well-respected and well-known authors have shared their process. This can be extremely useful to any writer or aspiring writer, in especial if you are still working on establishing your…
I can make this work the way I desire for it to. For a very long time, I was really good at telling you what I did not desire to have in my life. I knew without a doubt what I didn’t want. Not so long ago, I began to figure out what I DO…
The starting point is defining success. I began writing fiction full-time in 2020, as the pandemic shifted other elements of my world. While before then I’d been doing regular writing, making it my full-time vocation had not quite been achieved. Because I made this shift, I’ve completed and self-published 10 books since 2020. One is…
Storyteller’s Log, 14 August 2025 Korbin opines about my journaling. I have returned from another 10-day sojourn at the Pennsic War. Twenty-nine years and counting since 1996 (minus 2 years due to the Pandemic). It was a mixed bag in many respects. Most of that was because I was feeling off from time to time…
When all is said and done that’s what words are. The depth of this can be surreal. Thoughts are often abstract, complex, and mixed. They are unclear and tend to be varied in more ways than one. When thoughts get blended with feelings it adds a whole other layer of complexity. There are times when…
Something different for me and my writing/publishing game, at least. As I’m sure you’re sick of reading by now – I started writing sci-fi when I was 9 years old. Wildfire is a 50-page, illustrated book you will never read. After Wildfire, I started but didn’t finish a few other projects. Then, at age 13,…
