The Last Novel of The Series (For Now) Release Day
Today, the last novel of my Forgotten Fodder series goes live!
Welcome to my next New Novel Release day! Today, the eighth novel in my Forgotten Fodder sci-fi, clone, crime, and conspiracy series is available as an audiobook, paperback, and eBook across multiple platforms.
The series occurs some 550 years in our future. It’s the continuation of the first series I ever wrote as a planner, not as a pantser (for more on this, check out my recent post about no right or wrong way to write fiction).
This series, I believe, represents some of the best plotting and storytelling I’ve done to date.
The last new novel release day is today
Today marks the publication of Forgotten Fodder Book 8 – Shifting Sands. This is the fourth and last new novel of The Turncoat Conspiracy saga.
The blurb:
Will the cornered rat lash out?
It all comes down to this: Feroz and the conspirators have chosen to make a last stand. Treading carefully, Jace, Onima, Kara, and the rest of the CBI team have an opportunity to pull the proverbial rug out from under them.
The team is under the gun. The opposition has forces preparing to strike. They only have a few days before more attacks on clones take place as part of the effort to unravel the Confederation and sow further chaos and spread more disinformation.
Can they turn the turncoat’s gambit on its head, beat the shell game, reveal the conspiracy theory to the public before the shifting sands let them get away?
Shifting Sands is available on Amazon for paperback, Kindle, and audiobook, and in all three formats from other distributors like Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Apple Books, and more.
My ongoing work
This brings me to the end of this series. At least, for now. Yes, I have ideas I can apply to continue the adventures of Jace, Onima, Kara, and the rest of the team. Will I write them? Time will tell. For now, however, this is the final adventure of theirs I’m sharing.
Of course, I’m still working on other projects. I write daily, so that means I’m always putting words to the screen.
Currently, my focus has been on the first books of a whole new series. That new series is all about pirates. In space. I’ve finished Rise of the Captain, book one of A Gentleman Space Pirate. This week, I will complete the writing of book two, Piracy, Partners, Politics, and Profit. The books in this series are coming out at over 40 chapters, somewhere on the order of 80,000+ words total.
The plan is to start publishing this new series in the Fall. Probably. I’m more than halfway through my first round of editing Rise of the Captain and might seek some beta readers to look it over before I send it to the editor.
I’ve gotten this first quarter of 2026 off to a strong start. I love sharing my stories with you. But that’s not all that I’m working on. Additionally, I’m working on doing more with my new publishing and coaching business in Argent Hedgehog Press. I’m offering author coaching services, based on all I’ve learned along the way. This speaks to me love of helping and serving others.
The next new release day?
Right now, this is up in the air. My current thought is that I should have Rise of the Captain ready to publish by September. This remains to be seen, and I have some other thoughts on how I want to approach this series overall. But I’m excited to share it with you!
A little teaser that I shared with my newsletter subscribers last month:
Pirate captain was not the goal Sam Yeager strived for in life. Yet in the face of circumstances beyond his control, this is where Sam has found himself. What does the rise of a unique captain, a gentleman space pirate, look like as he starts his journey in command of a noteworthy (notorious?) pirate ship and crew?
As we move into the second quarter of 2026, I’m considering some additional fiction writing ideas. There might be a collaboration with my wife and a venture into the fantasy/romantasy realm. That might be published under a different nom de plume, but the idea is there and intriguing me.
There is also a fantasy idea I’ve had brewing in my head for a while that takes a few turns away from the usual tropes. For example, rather than the normal “medieval” world of most fantasies, this series adds some non-medieval elements. These include certain late 20th-century technologies blended in. Still swords and sorcery, magic and mayhem, but from a unique angle.
Will I start on either of these as I’m working on A Gentleman Space Pirate and its books, or set that aside for one of these ideas? Uncertain. Again, spitballing here. Suffice it to say, the writing machine will create words and worlds in one form or another.
Thanks for joining me on this next new novel release day. I’m glad I get to share my work with you. Thanks for reading. As I share my creative journey with you every week, please consider this: How are you inspired and empowered to be your own authentic creator, whatever form that takes?
