Forgotten Fodder
Clones created to fight a decades-long war.
When it ended, they remained, discarded. Then one witnesses a murder.
A sci-fi series about clones, colonies, conspiracies, and murder across the stars.
The Forgotten Fodder are clones, created to fight a war that stretched over two decades. After the war ended, they remain, albeit discarded.
The History of the Forgotten Fodder
With the success of the first Alcubierre-Natario Warp Drive in 2074, the people of Earth colonized and terraformed exoplanets across the galaxy. Over time, the colonies formed three governments: the Near Earth Colony Coalition (NECC), the New Earth Exoplanet Alliance (NEEA), and the Independent Human Colonies Federation (IHCF).
In 2539, the NECC and NEEA went to war. Rather than enlist or conscript soldiers, both sides created clones from twelve to fourteen donor templates, specialized in infantry, piloting, mechanics, medicine, and support. By 2542, clones did nearly all the fighting for both sides. For twenty years the war raged across space and colony planets.
The IHCF, alongside alien allies called the canutus, intervened and overthrew both governments, ending the war and forming a single new government: the Alliance of Earth Colonies Confederation (AECC). Now, in 2572, the tens of thousands of surviving clones are an underclass, with no rights and little regard, struggling to find food, shelter, and work just to keep existing.
The forgotten fodder never forget
Clones are not perfect copies. They have been altered, giving them improved vision (all have yellow-gold irises), enhanced survivability, added resilience, and eidetic memories, along with modifications meant to ensure they would never rebel against their creators.
About two years ago, clones began to die in an unexpected, horrid way. Because of their underclass status, nobody cared to investigate, yet the clones believe an engineered virus is the culprit. Then a former infantry clone witnesses a most unusual murder. And this is where our story begins.
1. Unexpected Witness
When a high-ranking businessman and two clones are murdered, Marshal Onima Gwok of the Confederation Bureau of Investigation gets the case. But nothing adds up, and there is just one witness, a clone.
Jace Rojas, an infantry clone discarded when the war ended, proves far more helpful than a mere witness. Onima brings him onto her team as they chase answers across multiple solar systems, where every question seems to produce only more questions. Will this be the start of a new war, or something worse?
2. The Clone Conundrum
Jace Rojas and Marshal Onima Gwok have uncovered a sinister plot, but the quest for answers only produces new questions. As the investigation continues, evidence of a vast conspiracy to topple the government using clones emerges.
Onima relies on her team: cryptanalyst Feroz Jones, medical examiner Dr Maira Patel, and pilot Yael Amber. But she has been warned that someone on the team is leaking to CBI higher-ups tied to the conspirators. How do they intend to use the clones to overthrow the Confederation, and what will the mole throw in the way?
3. Unraveling Conspiracy
Betrayal. The mole has shown their true colors, and an act of sabotage produces dire consequences for Onima, Deputy Marshal Kara Martinez, and Jace Rojas.
The investigation into the conspiracy is far from complete. Insidious forces will stop at nothing, and conspirators remain inside the CBI, the monopolistic Gray and Chuang, and possibly the Confederation itself. The conspiracy is unraveling, but the clock is ticking. Can they pull all the loose threads before it is too late?
